How to Save Mobile Phone after Dropping it into Water

How to Save Mobile Phone after Dropping it into Water?

We all try to be as careful with our smartphones as possible, but unfortunately, accidents happen. For example, nobody is insured of dropping their phone into water, and it’s a real tragedy unless the phone is a water-resistant Motorola Defy or one of those rugged Japanese phones.

Usually, if something like that happens, we don’t know how to behave. And while we stand there and panic or mourn the loss of our favorite phone, we lose the precious moments we could use to save it. For such people Nokia has released a set of instructions on what to do after dropping a phone (particularly a Lumia phone, but it will work with any other, I guess) into water. If you act quickly, you can save your phone and make it work as if nothing had happened to it.

  1. First of all, you should get the phone out of the water as soon as possible and remove from it everything that can be removed (the SIM, the battery and so on).
  2. Then dry the phone using a towel (no hair dryer or anything like that!) and leave it to dry completely overnight (some users say it’s better to leave it for 48 hours).
  3. Then you can put the battery and the SIM back and see if the phone is OK.
  4. If you've managed to do everything quickly and correctly, the chances are big that the phone will work again!
  5. By the way, this method works not only with Nokia phones (as you could have guessed). Many users have tried this method with other phones, and most of the phones were saved.
